Bouncing from yesterday's post, my new little gentleman-friend seemed to have arrived in the world not only with very few clothes (how humiliating), but didn't know anybody except for his mama and pops. I immediately introduced myself and another friend as well. They seemed to hit it off.
The pattern is the Lovable Toys bunny from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Some US 4 needles with Wool-Ease created a fairly indestructible and washable fabric. The pattern makes a nice huggable friend, and I think the neck situation (always a tricky one) came out very nicely, even sans scarf.* And I love the ears. If I were a kid, I would drag this thing everywhere, grasping it by the squishy ears.
I have no false notions about what kids love (chances are, they love the thrift store teddy without an eye before they love something expensive or thoughtful). But this was so fun to make, I don't even care. The pictures alone make me happy :)
How do you feel once a knit leaves your possession, knowing that it may or may not be used the way you dreamed it would?
Cheers!
Daisy
*With toys, you can usually either knit the head and body in one piece, risking the no-neck syndrome, or you can knit the head separately and sew it on after, risking the floppy-neck syndrome. It's a bit dicey sometimes, but the trick used here to cinch the neck in an unobtrusive way works just fine. Just fine indeed.
